Jessica R. Lovering

Freelance Astrophysicist

I attended the University of California, Berkeley from 2002-2006.  I graduated in May 2006 with a BA in Astrophysics.  As a freshmedn I began doing research with Dr. Eugene Chiang working on Kuiper Belt and Solar Sytem dynamics.  At the end of my Junior year I began working with Dr. Geoff Marcy on extra-solar planets and instrument  callibration.  This web page serves to summarize my academic and research experience that I acquired at Cal.
I now live in Boulder, CO and work at the Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) Space Science Department.  I work for Alan Stern, mostly on NASA's New Horizons Mission.  I will be applying to the Astrophysical and Planetary Science graduate program at the University of Colorado this fall.  If you would like to see what I am up to, check out my SwRI web page.

Note: My webpage is still under construction since the ugastro HD crash in the summer of 2006.

Personal
I was born in San Antonio, TX, but moved to Auburn ,CA at the age of 3 when my dad retired from the Air Force.  My main hobbies are backpacking, kyaking, ballet, tap, and dogsledding.  I would also like to master Hebrew and American Sign Language.  I am a certified Wilderness First Responder and I have been trained to operate a forklift.  My partner, Ben, and I are hoping to buy a house/condo this summer before I (hopefully) start graduate school at the University of Colorado in the fall.
